BIOGRAPHY

I came to the practice of art after twenty years in the corporate world.  That world of linear thinking, projects with desired outcomes clearly stated from the onset, and stringent parameters, has affected my creation.  No longer a writer of memos explaining how to produce a product, sell a service, or provide customer support, I try to conceive of an idea and let it evolve.  I try to accept non-traditional materials and remember that there are no rigid formulas to follow.  I try to follow the direction of the work as it progresses rather than concern myself with doing it the right way.  I do, however, feel the tension of trying to create my own vocabulary, in a language I am struggling to understand.  I am most interested in using media that has a prior history where I can rework, re-imagine, re-contextualize or just make up a story.  My goal is not to be too reverent.
