Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1965, Ignacio Gurruchaga begins his studies in Basic Photography at the Fotoclub de Gimnasia y Esgrima,
in the Argentinean capital. At just fifteen years of age, he won second place in an annual student contest at the club, and,
ended in third place in the general ranking of the same club the following year.
In 1982 he embarks in a series of advanced courses including special effects training with Juan Carlos Villareal,
TV direction and production at the Universidad del Salvador, and photojournalism at the Escuela de Fotoperiodismo Argentina.
This last institution allowed him to do an internship at the Agencia Noticias Argentinas, where he remained for a period of seven months doing
a wide variety of photographic reports.
In mid 1986, his collaboration with Editorial Atlántida de Argentina, publisher of the most renowned magazines in the nation,
such as Gente, El Grafico, Para Ti, Billiken, and La Chacra, becomes permanent.
His work takes him throughout Latin America and Argentina, and his efforts quickly lead to a position with the established staff at the editorial,
covering headline assignments such as Pope John Paul II's visit to Argentina in 1987, the 1988 presidential campaign for Eduardo Angeloz
(governor of the province of Córdoba, and ultimately defeated by Carlos Menem), and the arrival of American troops to Bolivia to assist that nation
in its fight against drug trafficking, as ordered by then president Ronald Reagan and based in the city of Trinidad, in the Bolivian jungle.
In 1990 he begins his career as an independent photographer and, with his associate Ricardo Alferi, works collaboratively with Buenos Aires'
Diario Clarín, the South American Football Association, and with magazines like Hola, from Spain and Soccer Striker from Japan,
to mention a few of the most important international publications.
In the early 90's, while participating in expositions for ARGRA (Argentinean Association of Photojournalists), he became the Publicity Manager for LanArt,
proprietary owners of name brands such as Sergio Tacchini, Fila, and Dunlop. This experience with publicity allows him, as of 1993, to produce spectacular
advertising campaigns as a publicity photographer for brands like Mango, Motor Oil, Diesel, Soviet, Gatopardo, and Angelo Paolo.
In 1995 he travels the entire county accompanying Professor José Bonaparte, recepient of a National Geographic scholarship for eighteen years
due to his stupendous Pale ontological studies. During this period, he photographs material for two books on the subject:
"Dinosaurios de América del Sur" and " El Triásico de San Juan Rioja. Argentina y sus dinosaurios".
He was co-founding partner of Buenos Aires Color, a professional lab, until he emigrated to the United States in 1995.
Based in Miami, he has been a correspondent for Editorial Atlántida and Diario Clarín, and is founder, shareholding partner and director of District Lab,
a professional lab of outstanding quality in Miami. As a resident of the United States he collaborates with international and local media
and companies such as MTV, Sony Music, Universal Music, Warner, AT&T, and Wannado City, among others.
